The World Migration Report 2010 (WMR 2010) willbe the fifth in IOM's series of biennial reports on international migration.Like the World Migration Reports that have preceded it, it is intended tocontribute to the mission of the International Organization of Migration (IOM)to promote 'humane and orderly policies in the movement of persons acrossborders'. Specifically, its aim is to promote a focus on building capacities toenable states and other stakeholders to respond to and plan for migration effectivelyand in a sustainable way.

In October 2011, senior international and Ukrainian experts and policy makers gathered to discuss the economic, social and cultural impacts of migration on Ukraine?s future development, at a conference, organized by Ukrainian Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Aiming to advance the understanding of the opportunities and challenges of migration in the Ukrainian context, IOM Ukraine arranged the conference to mark the Organization?s 60th Anniversary globally and 15 years of its presence in Ukraine.

IOM is grateful to all the conference participants who contributed their theses for this publication. Ukrainian version of the report will follow soon.
