Migration Movement Management

The Migration Movement Programme (MMP) was started in 1996 and operates in partnership with the USA, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and Australia to provide pre- and post-interview processing, pre-departure cultural training and assistance with travel arrangements for potential migrants.

MMP assists IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) programme by reintegrating returnees from EU countries such as the UK, Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain, Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Portugal. The AVR program also furnishes information and counselling for non-Ukrainian migrants returning to their home countries.

In adherence with international practices of return, IOM utilizes the return mechanism Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) to return home rejected asylum applicants and stranded irregular migrants otherwise unable of doing so. MMP assists migrants in their movements from Ukraine as well.

Other MMP Partners: European Union, International Red Cross Committee, Governments of New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, Finland and Norway, as well as UNHCR, U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Dept of State.
